You Can’t Catch Me I’m the Gingerbread Man

20150119_174926We have been reading “The Gingerbread Man” for over a year now. On the back of the book there is a recipe for gingerbread cookies. Today we decided to try it out. We were fresh out of molasses so we used some of Papa Smiths Maple syrup instead.  Madyson was convinced the cookies were going to run right out of the oven. Luckily we were able to eat them and they were delicious!

We took Maddy to the Skating Rink for the first time last friday. We told her we were going grocery shopping. She was overjoyed when we walked inside and it was actually a skating rink. She used a balance bar, like her Dad, for the first hour and then skated on her own. She did really well for her first time. We all enjoyed outselves. Even though I got some funny looks about my hair 😉

I did it

I finished my dreads. They have been a month in the making. Trying different methods, hiding them from my mother, my daughter, and just trying to keep them in. A few days ago I saw a blog about a rip and twist technique and it finally clicked. I got them to stay in. I’m so thrilled they’re done. No more brushing. I know they’ll be months in the making still but at least the foundation is there.

No more brushing

Laying in bed tonight I made the decision.  I’m tired of brushing hair. I brush my hair, my daughter’s hair, sometimes the cat or the dogs hair… I’m tired of it. Sometimes I brush Madyson ‘ s hair more than once a day. So I made the decision to stop brushing my hair. Seven or eight years ago, I can’t remember now, I cut my dreads… and I’m ready to reclaim them. I’m ready to get back to my roots. Not only am I ready to dread my hair I’m ready for a life change and I’m willing to start here. With my hair. Ever notice how women change thier hair color or hair styles? It’s a simple change, and a big one.  But it holds a lot of meaning for me and I’m ready to get back to my roots.
